Dior was licensed in America in the 70's and 80's,

Licensing agreements in the 1980s outlined the directive role of the Dior headquarters in aesthetic terms. The Dior head office had the final word on products, and monitored that the licensees' creativity was in line with the overarching aesthetic of the brand. The respect of the prestige and goodwill of Dior were clearly outlined in the license contracts, and retail had to match the highest luxury standards, as well."

"...women's wear aligned aesthetically with the Paris collections.

Dior was, in the second half of the 1980s, particularly successful with suits and coats, that were retailed at Bergdorf Goodman and Bloomingdales. The monitoring of licenses also shows that the Dior American headquarters were very attentive to the qualities of the retailers who sold their branded products.
